Sales in December

This December, Kashallan Press is participating in Sales on Kobo, Apple, OverDrive, and Smashwords. These sales are excellent opportunities to get new reads on a platform that you prefer, or to fill your tablet or e-reader with affordable and absorbing reads! If price is a barrier, remind your public library that titles from Kashallan Press are discounted on OverDrive where libraries acquire titles for their collections, and then go look at the End-of-Year Sale on Smashwords.com . (Hint: all Kashallan Press titles are deeply discounted on Smashwords in December!)

Opinions for a Twitter Colloquium

For a Twitter Colloquium on Self-Publishing, here are some of author Celu Amberstone's thoughts in this discussion:    I think there are advantages and disadvantages to self-publishing. I am a mixed-race, Indigenous author and for that reason my writing perspective is different than what the established publishing industry is used to. I have been told many times by New York agents and editors, in their refusal letters, “Your writing is great, but I don’t know how to market your books.” But with help from online sites like D2D or Smash words I have been able to offer my books in reputable stores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble nonetheless. Self-publishing isn’t a shortcut to fame and glory, however. It means you have to do, yourself, much that would have been done in the past by a traditional publisher. So, if you want to have your writing treated seriously, then you have to do the work needed to insure the books you offer are the very best you can...

Happy New Year! and 2024's most popular titles

It's wonderful at the beginning of the new year 2025 to look back on the previous year's most popular titles. And this year, there is a tie! It's true. The most popular book of 2024 for Kashallan Press is not one, but TWO books. One is  Blessings of the Blood , first in our series Rituals , and the other is The Dream-Chosen , first in our series Tales of the Kashallans . Both of these titles are available as ebooks and paperbacks, and plans are being made for audiobook editions. It's a treat to see both of these books -- one fiction, one nonfiction -- so popular in both ebook and paperback formats. In 2025, look to see a finish to the series Tales of the Kashallans with Book 9. And there are plans ahead for a possible new volume to the Ritual series as well.
