#EBookGifts

Today we're promoting small press books with the hashtag #EBook Gifts.

This is the time of year when people are thinking about presents for the holiday season. Books are always a good suggestion for gifts, and ebooks are even better. Want to find affordable gifts? Ebooks can often be much more affordable than paperbacks or hardcover books. Or maybe you're looking for presents that don't take up a lot of space. Hardcover books are hard to carry when travelling for the holidays, and collecting an entire series of paperback novels can take up a lot of room on a bookshelf! In that case, ebooks can be carried on your phone or tablet or laptop computer, or saved in your subscription to your favourite online vendor.

If you're a fan of books but have mostly read what's available at news stands or at the front shelves of a bookstore, try looking for books from a small press. You might be amazed at the work of authors who are new-to-you; the cover art for small press books is striking; the content of small press books can be exciting fiction or thoughtful facts and commentary. When it comes to special needs, small presses have books in many languages and for all kinds of readers.

For titles from Kashallan Press, look at our distributors website at books2read.com/amberstone and you'll see an image of a book cover for each of our titles. Click on any book cover to learn more about that book. There are works of fiction and nonfiction: novels in two series and a collection of short stories, and two nonfiction works on rituals. These books are available at over sixteen popular online vendors. You can ask for any of them at your local bookstore and public library.

Opinions for a Twitter Colloquium

For a Twitter Colloquium on Self-Publishing, here are some of author Celu Amberstone's thoughts in this discussion:    I think there are advantages and disadvantages to self-publishing. I am a mixed-race, Indigenous author and for that reason my writing perspective is different than what the established publishing industry is used to. I have been told many times by New York agents and editors, in their refusal letters, “Your writing is great, but I don’t know how to market your books.” But with help from online sites like D2D or Smash words I have been able to offer my books in reputable stores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble nonetheless. Self-publishing isn’t a shortcut to fame and glory, however. It means you have to do, yourself, much that would have been done in the past by a traditional publisher. So, if you want to have your writing treated seriously, then you have to do the work needed to insure the books you offer are the very best you can...

Happy New Year! and 2024's most popular titles

It's wonderful at the beginning of the new year 2025 to look back on the previous year's most popular titles. And this year, there is a tie! It's true. The most popular book of 2024 for Kashallan Press is not one, but TWO books. One is  Blessings of the Blood , first in our series Rituals , and the other is The Dream-Chosen , first in our series Tales of the Kashallans . Both of these titles are available as ebooks and paperbacks, and plans are being made for audiobook editions. It's a treat to see both of these books -- one fiction, one nonfiction -- so popular in both ebook and paperback formats. In 2025, look to see a finish to the series Tales of the Kashallans with Book 9. And there are plans ahead for a possible new volume to the Ritual series as well. All Kashallan Press titles can be found at this link: books2read.com/amberstone where you can click on any book's cover to learn more and order it from over a dozen online vendors. Or request paperbacks at yo...
